International Virtual Construction Conference 2006
vom 21. bis 22. August 2006 in Budapest

Montag, 21. August 2006

  • Welcome & Introductions - Clay Freeman, Vice President, Construction Solutions - Graphisoft
  • Keynote - Dominic Gallello, CEO of Graphisoft
  • Case Study 1 - Jim Bedrick, Director of Technology at Webcor.
Webcor, the largest general contractor on the West Coast of the US, has extensive experience with implementing Virtual Construction. Jim Bedrick will discuss their process for implementing Virtual Construction at Webcor, the benefits they've received, and the hurdles they learned to overcome on the way.
  • Case Study 2 - SRV Kamppi Center
SRV extensively used Control and the Flowline theory to manage their 400m EUR Kamppi Center project. The project opened 6 months early on a 4 year schedule.
  • Case Study 3 - TBD
  • Using Virtual Construction for Design Coordination - Viktor Bullain, Director of Construction Services at Graphisoft
This session will discuss the process and benefits of using 3D construction models for design coordination. Topics will include: the organization of the modeling team, the modeling process, Level of Detail, and identifying discrepancies.
  • Communication & Clash Management by Navisworks - Jonathon Widney, Navisworks
This session will explore the usage of Navisworks' JetStream technology for real-time walkthroughs of 3D construction models and Clash Detective for identifying and management model conflicts.
  • Virtual Construction Cost Management - Marcel Broekmaat, Product Manager, Graphisoft
During this session, the use of model based estimating throughout the various project phases will be presented. Starting at the conceptual phase with knowledge base cost information and ending at the bidding phase with sub contractor bid prices, project cost can be managed with Virtual Construction tools.
  • Flowline Project Planning - Olli Seppanen, Director of Production Control
This session will explore using Flowline, a modified theory of project management based on Line of Balance concepts, to develop an optimized construction schedule. The Flowline concept has a proven track record of compressing construction schedules by more than 10% without adding cost and risk.

Dienstag, 22. August 2006

  • Construction Simulation - Viktor Bullain, Director of Construction Services at Graphisoft
  • Flowline Production Control - Olli Seppanen, Director of Production Control, Graphisoft
This session will explore the usage of Flowline Production Control to track and forecast the progress of construction. To support better project control, modifications to subcontractor's contracts will be discussed.
  • Virtual Construction and ERP - Steve Dunwell, Oracle
This session will cover the connection between Virtual Construction and Oracle eBusiness Suite. Topics will include an overview of the eBusiness Suite and the connection to estimating and scheduling.
  • Panel Discussion Moderator: Clive Jordan, Onsite Project Manager, Graphisoft
The panel discussion will focus on the benefits of Virtual Construction and techniques of using it to increase profit.
  • Site Management by Doalltech - Doalltech
Doalltech is a leading provider of project collaboration services and a pioneer in the field of using RFID tags to improve control and tracking of construction projects. Doaltech's RFID technology is being used on a number of projects including Burj Dubai, which will be the world's tallest building. Their session will focus on the techniques and benefits of using RFID tags to track personnel and materials through a project hosting environment.
  • The Future of Virtual Construction & General Discussions - Clay Freeman, VP Construction Solutions & Marcel Broekmaat, Graphisoft
This session will discuss the future directions of Virtual Construction. Topics will include structural engineering and fabrication, improved simulation tools, improved connectivity to ERP systems, connecting the supply chain and more. Additionally, general questions will be addressed by all presenters.
